The Capital

In Prague, there are approximately 1,9 millions of people. Since 1992, the historic old town is a World Heritage Site. Its beauty and historical heritage make it one of the twenty most visited cities in the world. Prague has developed since the ninth century, becoming one of the most important capitals of Europe in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. However , in the twentieth century he suffered two world wars and especially the Nazi dictatorship. After the fall of the Berlin Wall the city has adapted to the market economy.

Traditions


Czech folklore was influenced by a mix of Christian and Pagan costumes. Nowadays it is preserved and kept alive by various folklore ensembles uniting members of all ages, from children to seniors, showing their talent during competitions, folklore festivals or other performances.


Flag

His design included the red and white horizontal stripes derived from the coat of arms of Bohemia, and added a blue wedge extended halfway along the flag. The flag was officially approved by the National Assembly of Czechoslovakia on 30 March 1920.
